Roping - Intermediate With Cow

This class will allow you to prepare for roping cattle in competition. Participants must have taken working ranch horse - advanced and roping from a horse class for acceptance into this class. Breakaway Hondo will be needed on your ropes. Failure to listen to the instructor will lead to immediate dismissal. ADVANCED STUDENTS ONLY. The instructor will have the final decision as to who will get to participate in this class.

Showmanship - Advanced

For those of you who are serious about showing your horse at halter, this class is for you! Participants will learn about year-round conditioning, finer points of the Quarter System, pivoting, teaching the horse to set up without touching it, contestant posture and presentation.

Showmanship - Beginning

The basics of halter showmanship will be taught in this class. Participants will learn how to safely lead their horse at the walk and trot, turn their horse correctly, back their horse from the ground, how to teach your horse to set up, introduction to the Quarter System, correct spacing in a class as well as contestant posture and presentation. Parents are strongly encouraged to be present with younger 4-H members.

Trail - Advanced

This class is for advanced riders and horses only. Together they will face new challenges and learn to better communicate with each other. Riders will go over a pre-set course with all types of new challenges.

Trail - Beginning

This class is geared toward the first year or beginner who would like to know what is expected of them in a horse show Trail class. Riders will do some basic obstacles such as the bridge, mailbox, trot-poles and back through as well as learn some simple techniques to improve their performance.

Trail - Conquering Rope Gate

Learn the tips and tricks to conquering this obstacle in the trail class.

Trail - Forestry for Horsemen

Various aspects of forestry will be demonstrated, such as how the age of a tree and its height are determined without cutting the tree down. The various trees and plants, with how they relate to their surroundings will be discussed. Safety will be stressed, in addition to learning techniques to enjoy the back county while leaving little to no trace of your visit.

Trail - Intermediate

This class is for riders with some trail experience who are looking to polish their show ring performance.

Working Ranch Horse

Participants will learn how to “read” cattle on foot. They will be able to concentrate solely on the cattle and their own body position without adding a horse to the mix. This is surprisingly effective for kids to quickly grasp the concepts needed to efficiently work cattle and succeed in the Working Ranch Horse competitions. An instructor will determine who participates in horse classes B & C during this class.
